Product Care

At The Soapery we want to make sure you are getting the most out of our natural handcrafted products. Below are some key tips and tricks in storing and caring for our different products.

Soy wax candles

Our candles are made with 100% soy wax and pure essential oils. Before burning the candle you may wish to remove the flowers, if you choose to keep them in for burning make sure you keep an eye on the candle just to be safe and never leave it unattended.

  • Always read the safety instructions on the bottom of the candle, you should have also received a leaflet with your candle telling you how to burn the candle properly.
  • Keep wick trimmed to 6mm above wax before each use.
  • When first burning your candle make sure you allow it to pool right to the edge of the jar. This is to make sure that each time you light it it will melt evenly and will not tunnel down. A soy wax candle has a memory and will always burn to the last area previous so to avoid an uneven burn make sure it burns to the edge each time you light it.
  • Candles are best extinguished using a snuffer. If you are blowing your candle out, make sure the wick is completely extinguished and no longer glowing before leaving the room.
  • When the candle has melted down and there is only about 1.5 cm of wax left at the bottom, stop using. If you want to re-use your candle jar (which we recommend) then let the wax cool and harden fully again. Once it is fully cooled, gently remove as much wax as you can and the remaining wick and throw it away. Carefully wash the container in hot water to remove any wax residue and then you have a gorgeous re-usable jar!
  • Never leave your burning candle unattended!
  • Always burn your candle on a stable, heat proof surface and away from anything flammable, kids, pets and drafts.
  • Don't try to move your candle while it is burning.
  • Store in a cool place, out of direct sunlight.

Artisan Soaps

We offer a wide variety of artisan soaps, with different blends of essential oils, colours and additives like poppy seeds and goats milk. We use vegetable oils like coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, shea butter and castor oil along with pure essential oils. We use no plastic packaging and no palm oil!

To get the best use out of you artisan soaps below is ways to keep them lasting longer.

  • Our soaps are made using the cold processed method and stored on shelves allowing the air to circulate and dry them before selling for you to use right away.
  • If you are not using the soap as soon as you have received them then store them away out of direct sunlight and in a dry, cool place.
  • In between uses it is important to let your soap dry.  Always store your soap on a well draining rack or soap dish. The soap needs to dry out fully when not being used to make it last as long as possible. If it is in a constant puddle of water, the soap will quickly break down and go very mushy and be unusable.

Skin Care Products

Make sure you keep your skincare products out of direct sunlight as they have the potential to turn to liquid!

Solid Shampoo Bar

To ensure you are getting the most out of our solid shampoo bar we recommend after using them to take the out of the shower so that air can circulate around it and dry it out. It is important to keep the bar out of a puddle of water and to keep it as dry as possible between uses. Having it in a soap dish/rack is extremely beneficial

Solid Conditioner Bar

To ensure you are getting the most out of our solid conditioner bars we recommend having it sitting on a soap dish/rack or somewhere it wont be sat in a puddle of water to make sure it doesn't turn mushy and you can get many washes out of it!
